Introducing Focus Surveys: Your new way to dig deeper into what really matters

Helping leaders stay close to how their people really feel, in real time, has always been our top priority. Our pulse surveys are perfect for that. But what about when you need to go deeper? When you're not just checking in, but zooming in?

That’s exactly why we created Focus Surveys.

So what are Focus Surveys?

Focus Surveys are designed to help you ask the right questions, at the right moment, to the right people. They're a natural complement to our pulse surveys - offering the depth, while pulse provides the rhythm.

You can think of them as traditional-style surveys done in the Winningtemp way. They're sent out once, with a fixed set of questions in a fixed order, and offer a wider range of response options - like multiple choice, Likert scales, and free text.

You can tailor them around specific topics, events, or moments in your employee journey, giving you a deeper and richer understanding of your employees and how they are feeling.

Why did we build them?

Because organisations aren’t static. The way we work has evolved - and so have the questions we need to ask. There’s more cross-functional projects, agile team structures, and a bigger need to measure impact at the right moment - not just over time.

We listened to our customers who wanted these kinds of deep-dive surveys - and wanted them in Winningtemp.

So Focus Surveys were built from a real need to:

  • Give Winningtemp customers more choice and flexibility so they can gather richer employee data.
  • Measure short-term projects that pulse surveys don’t quite suit.
  • Gather feedback during specific events - like change initiatives or employee lifecycle events.
  • Capture a clear point-in-time snapshot that’s easy to compare and analyse.

So what makes Focus Surveys different?

  1. More flexibility in how people respond. Pulse surveys use emoji ratings to quickly capture how your team feels in the moment. Focus Surveys go deeper, with a richer mix of response types so you get more context, more clarity, and additional insights.
  2. The full picture, in one go. Pulse surveys are great for spotting trends and changes over time. But when you need a sharp, clear snapshot - say, after a big change, or at the end of a project, Focus Surveys deliver that team-wide, one-time, in-depth view.
  3. Easy to use, deeply integrated. Everything happens inside Winningtemp - there’s no need for extra tools or clunky workarounds. Employees answer via mobile or desktop, just like a regular pulse survey. And for managers, results are filtered by team or segments, so you can see what matters most to your people.

One system. Two survey types. Better insight.

Understanding how your people are feeling isn’t about one survey or one score. It’s about listening consistently and deeply - spotting the patterns and unpacking the reasons behind them.

That’s why Pulse and Focus work best together.

They’re designed to complement each other - and together, they form a complete employee listening system.

Pulse Surveys are your always-on feedback loop. It helps you monitor trends over time, detect early warning signs, and stay in tune with how your people are doing - week by week, month by month.

You get real-time insights that keep you agile and proactive.

Focus Surveys let you zoom in on specific topics, roles, or experiences - so you can explore in more detail and ask more tailored questions. Whether it’s during onboarding, after a major change, or at the end of a project, Focus helps you understand the full context behind the data.

Together, they give you a complete view, from high-level patterns to deep dives on what matters most.

Some of the ways leaders are already combining them:

  • Role-based surveys to understand questions that are related to specific roles.
  • Employee lifecycle events to fine-tune the employee experience.
  • Change management surveys to understand how teams are reacting to new initiatives.
  • Feedback surveys for teams trialling new systems or ways of working.
  • Project closure surveys to understand how project management can be improved for future projects.

And because everything happens inside Winningtemp, you don’t need extra tools or messy workarounds. Both are part of one seamless experience - for you and your team.

Ready to go deeper?

At Winningtemp, we believe in making data meaningful. That’s why this feature isn’t just a new checkbox. It’s a whole new way to listen better, act smarter, and build the kind of workplace where everyone can bring their best selves to the table.

We always talk about needing both breadth and depth in employee data. Focus Surveys bring that depth - so you can get sharper insights, when you need them most.
